Uploads: New vs old files on server

I have a severe problem. Hope someone can help me.

First. Links such as http://www.mywebsite.com/folder/ should automatically redirect to its own index.html, right? My website uses those links before. The problem is that when you upload a new index.html, and you access the http://www.mywebsite.com/folder/ link, the result is that the older page appears. If you use http://www.mywebsite.com/folder/index.html, then the new page appears. How come?

Next. With the problem above, I decided to make those links absolute (http://www.mywebsite.com/folder/index.html), and revised every webpage I see. When I uploaded it and waited for the pages to "change and refresh", I got mixed results. My browser (after clearing ALL caches) displays the correct links, while my boss's displays it incorrectly. Is it on our end, or is it on the server's end?

I still have to know what server are we using. All that I know is that we are using TeamSite and OpenDeploy (by Interwoven).

This is a cache problem. On IE hit ctrl+F5 to clear that cache.
