    Centering wide images...

    I've run into a problem.

I'm working on a site that has a large image that needs to be centered.

The image, however, is intended to be wider than most browser windows and is designed to fade to black at the sides.

The main problem is that left edge of the image bumps up to the left edge of the browser, throwing off this alignment when viewing through more narrow browser windows.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    CG

how i would attempt to fix this is using css and nested div's

the first div i would set it's background as the image you are talking about, and set the bg as centered

then place a second div over the top of that image

look at this site as an example
