So on facebook if you post a link on someones wall like lets say I write "www.cnn.com/articlehere....". The system will find a picture or a few pictures from the site, a title, and a small description and bring it into facebook.
I just want to know how they are doing this? Is this a php function or is this javascript? It's obviously mixed with ajax because it's all on the fly, but how do you take a url and then get javascript or php to go out and I'm guessing they download the source somehow and parse out like the <title> tag and such?
Please if anyone can give me guidance on this,
