How this huge websites are created

hello all,
In the last few months i was planing to study everything about web developing and designing, but i just don't knew from where should i start

my question is, what i need to learn to know how exactly the huge websites like YouTube, Facebook, vBulletin boards, Ebay, Google etc.. are created?? what are the steps for me to do to become a professional in this field???

JavaScript
PHP, or other server-side scripting language, of your choice.
