    transfering hosts

    Hi Guys,

I usually develop sites with Joomla and I have transferred Joomla site hosts in the past.

I am trying to transfer a basic html site with no databases or anything. I copied all files in the old hosts www folder to the new hosts public html folder. I havent pointed the domain to the new host yet but when I type in the ip address of the new host, it says not found. Shouldnt it be coming up?

    What am I missing?

    Thanks

If its a temp IP address, then yeah, it show up (at least mine always has). Though your domain will give the error message until you point it to the name servers in your registrars domain panel, then it resolves for 24-48 hrs until its happy.

yeah its not a nameserver issue cause I havent pointed the domain yet. Its the raw ip address.

I was right by just coppying files from www directory correct?

Yeah, you're correct. But you won't see jack until you point the name servers to your domain.

Is the new host a shared host?
Do you have a dedicated IP on the new host?
Do you have access to the main Apache config file?
