Apache MySQL CPU usage

I installed a new CMS and it seems to be really "hogging" resources.

Can someone tell me if I would benefit form upgrading my server?

Would going from:

P4 2.8GHz, 2GB memory, 533MHz bus speed

to

Core Quad I7 920 2.66GHz, 4GB memory, 1066MHz bus speed

make a difference?

With my current configuration, the CPU usage sometimes goes to 100% for several seconds and creates 20-30 second page loads every so often. The new CMS make a lot of MySQL calls. This never happened with my previous site which used static pages.

I upgraded and it made a huge difference.

I also added eAccelerator.
