    Web Development Beginner

Hello - I am a beginner to the web development realm and I want to know what my options are....I have built a server running ubuntu on my home network that i will use to host some sites while I learn various languages/techniques. I have a macbook pro running aptana as my IDE.

So my question....I'd like to do my development on my laptop and then bring all the files/folders over to the server when I am ready to host. Is this common practice? what are the best ways to accomplish this?

    Thanks,
    James

What you're doing is a very common practice and one that's recommended. If more than one person is doing it then, you can turn your files into source control, that way, you can eliminate (to a degree) toe stomping.
