Question Adding video to webpage like FB does?

Is there a way for me to add video to my website the same way that Facebook does? ie: "Play in Place". Facebook has two modes for displaying their videos:

1: Where in the main section, the thumbnail of the video shows, and when it is clicked, the video window opens up larger on the page and pushes down all nearby copy.

2: Where in the side-bar, there is a very small thumbnail, and when clicked, the video screen is displayed as an overlay above the webapge?

I would like to be able to use both methods, as the plan is to add 20 of little 30-60 second videos throughout the site (some in main section, some in a sidebar) - hosted at our site.

If anyone knows of how I can do either/both of these methods.. or how I can found out what needs to be done, it would be greatly appreciated.

for "play in place" use your player as you normally would. to do the sidebar "overlay" use a link to open your player in auto-play mode in a modal window.
    ...but stupidity is terminal.
