Menu with tables
I have a problem here. I'm trying to make a menu bar with tables, but the layout isn't the same in all browsers.
You can view the preview page at: http://web.telia.com/~u54602881/navbar.htm
NOTE: I have saved the images as .gif - that's why the meny looks ugly...
This code works very well in Google Chrome and Safari. But the same code doesn't look the same in FireFox and Opera, and I dont't know why. I can't figure it out either.
Here is some screenshots of how the menu looks in the different browsers:
So now I wonder if you see anything I should add/change to the code to make it look good in both FireFox and Opera. (I have another menu for Internet Explorer, because that browser is really odd)
Thanks for helping me
When I validate your site at http://validator.w3.org/ it throws up some errors such as no quotes around height/width attributes. You have some td's with colspans of "23" with only 3 columns in the table, and some tr's with rowspans of "10" with only 2 rows in the table. If your going to lay it out with tables, you should really only need one table, there is very little reason to be using more than one table in a layout unless you have tablular data to display. Only use colspan on a column that needs to span more than one column, so to try and make its width bigger. I really would suggest laying out your site far more semanticaly though, tables are not a good way to do it, especialy not a table for every button. Look into div layouts with navigation as unordered lists.
I've tried to make it with divs, but that didn't go very well...
I'll make a try with unordered list later today
Dont make the site from and unordered list, make the site layout with divs and css, search "div layout tutorial" in google. Make the navigation from an unordered list.
OK, thanks for the tips
I'll have a look at that
