    Question Setting up e-commerce requirements

    hi,

I m going to implement an e-commerce application for the first time and would like to what are the minimal technical requirements for the same in LAMP envionment.

    1. I know openssl is already installed in my server
    2. I will have to buy a security certificate ?
    .
    anymore..

How those things are need to be attached to provide a secure data transmission ??

    Thanks and Best Regards

It depends on whether you are planning to store credit card numbers and such on your server (which I don't recommend). If you are using a merchant or payment gateway then bringing your server up to their minimum requirements (usually a static IP, valid SSL cert and HTTPS) should be sufficient.

    Hi,

    Thanks for ur reply.

(usually a static IP, valid SSL cert and HTTPS) should be sufficient.
Can you pls explain the procedure of setting up HTTPS.. With my limited knowledge, I think static IP, and SSL certificate can be set up through the web host, HTTPS too..

But I do not understand how HTTPS being setup, having SSL cert alonely make HTTPS possible or are there any other proceedings..

    Best Regards

Each web server is a little different...

On Apache it usually takes form of Apache-ssl:

Your OS may or may not have specific differences from the articles/tutorials above.
