Do you remember when Microsoft launched XP. "XP's ****!, XP sucks! and so on", the same happened when they released Vista, although Vista somehow deserved it in the beginning, but after a while even Vista have had imporvements and today I would choose Vista, without a doubt.

Why choose between XP and Vista? Why not Windows 7? The new Windows 7 64 bit version is awesome! (compared to Windows in general).

...or you can use Linux (for example Ubuntu).

    No.
    Why?

Windows is not free software (in neither the sense of free beer or free speech).

I only use software that honours the four freedoms outlined by the Free Software Foundation:

    * The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
    * The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
    * The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
    * The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3). By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
