I've been using Hostgator now for a few months and I'm not satisfied. The site is slow (even after all kind of optimization) and in some periods it uses several minutes to load. Every time I contact Hostgator support they fixes the problems and my site is fast for 30 minutes, then it's back to basic.
Yesterday the server went down for over two hours. When it was up and going again I tried to upload a tiny light weight script which uses some queries to my databases at Hostgator. The script loaded as slow as the rest of my site, so the conclusion is sloooow mysql.
Is there a good idea to use remote databases? Anyone with some Hostgator experience?
