    Major CSS problem in Opera and IE, not in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

    Hi, I just joined this forum to post this thread, as I couldn't find info specific to my problem.

    My website is www.leviclaassen.com , and at www.leviclaassen.com/test you can view how the website is coming along. This is more a feature for my friends to follow what I'm doing.

    I am working in dreamweaver, handcoding a lot, and you could say that I am a table and CSS junkie. If you view the test page in Firefox, Chrome or Safari, it displays fine. However when viewed in IE or Opera, everything CSS is missing. All the text is using that horrible standard Times New Roman font, and the Navigationbar extention and shadow are missing.

    I have spent the last 6 hours trying to solve the problem, and looking for answers on the web.

    Please feel free to point me to a forum post if this has already been covered, I was not able to find it.

    Thanks in advance, Levi

    Hi there LeviClaassen,

    and a warm welcome to these forums.

    try closing this element...
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../img/levi_002.ico"/>

    ...as highlighted.

    I am sorry to hear that you are a "table junkie".

    Maybe reading one or two of the following links could be your salvation.

    Damn

    That f*cks it up even more for some reason, but even if it would work, is there another way to add my favicon?

    Why is this even happening?

    Thanks for the info, I'm going through it now. I wanted to go full div and CSS for a while, I know it's more professional.

    What do you think about dwt's? If I make one of those, I can edit the layout of my website super easy and quick.

    Hi there LeviClaassen,

    I did not say remove this...
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../img/levi_002.ico"
    ...I said close it.
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../img/levi_002.ico"/>

    Thanks!

    Thanks a lot, I would have known that if I had seen it, but I did not, so I was almost pulling my hair out.

    Now the big problem has turned into a very small problem, which I should be able to figure out, but if you have any suggestions, it would be appreciated.
    Opera: Favicon.
    Firefox: No favicon.

    haven't tried IE yet, have to load Parallels first.

    Again, thanks a bunch. I would never have found it!

    Hi there LeviClaassen,

    I see the favicon in Firefox 3.6, Opera 9.10 and Safari 4.04.
    I do not know if it works in IE8 as it is not on my pc.

    Everything is solved now, thanks to 2 lines of favicon code. Thanks. For future reference, heres the code I used that finally did it:

    Code:
    <link rel="icon" href="../img/favicon.ico" TYPE="image/x-icon">
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../img/favicon.ico" TYPE="image/x-icon">
