wordpress website with file upload/download option

Hi,

I would like to develop a wordpress website that will give the option of uploading and downloading files to the server for users. I would like to pay for a wordpress theme from one of the theme stores and then have a section where users log into the website to upload and download files to their separate accounts.

Is this possible and how would I go about it as I am haven't had too much experience with Wordpress itself and setting up user accounts with upload privileges.

Look forward to any help and suggestions on how to go about this.
