I am developing a site and wish to have the ability of putting a location map, for a number of linked sites, (obviously not all at the same time)
I been looking at Google maps and it's seems pretty easy just to look up a postcode, get a map, customise the size then paste the code into a site.
However, I know there is an option to show all businesses on a map, but I definitely don't want this option to be shown. A location map for a local butcher doesn't want to promote all their rivals. How do you turn this option off. A map with just the one arrow would be nice
Can you set the marker to an exact location.
I don't have to use Google ... if there is another suitable site, even just for a small static map, that would be all i would need.
Have you considered using the Google Maps API? This enables you to place a single marker literally right on top of the businesses location.
In doing so you can also customise the text that appears in the bubble, change the marker icon, do radial searches etc. Certainly gives you a lot of flexibility.
Would this still be a free service for my use ? Google states free if access by consumers is free, which it will be.
I intend setting up a directory type shopping site, but will sell advertising space to local shops etc. Each will then receive page of details on my site, a locality map as well as a direct link to their own site.
Would I be able to embed several maps, ot at least links to each one ?
