    Live data feed?

I want to have a page on my website have a live stream of the data that is being put into my database. I think javascript would be the way to go for this but I'm not 100% sure.

    I'm using MySQL and PHP.

My preferred result would be like the live feed that google has recently implemented into some of their search results such as this one (It's about halfway down the page): http://www.google.com/search?q=april...utf-8&aq=t&rls

Theirs has a pause button and this is also preferred for me to have.
Do you have any places that can start me off for this to happen?

    Thank you.

Sounds like you're mainly looking at client-side stuff, which could be a Flash or Java applet, or as you suggest some JavaScript probably using an "AJAX" implementation to connect with your PHP script on the server with some sort of timing loop in the JavaScript to do the refreshing of data. There are any number of PHP/JavaScript AJAX frameworks out there you could look into using.
