I've been trolling for a few weeks and have decided to join in hopes of becoming a giver and not just a taker in the wealth of information you guys seem to have.

I am a total newbie with some general questions about web app development. I’ve been trolling forums, reading articles and with each one I’m getting more confused.

I’m looking for someone willing to answer my questions and help me determine if my idea is viable and if I’m crazy to assume I can self teach the skills needed to proceed.

I have a total of 5 questions and I think that should be more than enough to get me started... So if you have 20 mins great if not thanks for reading my post.

P.S. i prefer to pm or email i didnt want to post my app idea in a public forum

I'm a (very old) PHPBuilder.com regular ... just coming across the HDD to say "EHLO" and brush up a bit on Clientside stuff ... no one here at the new job seems to know Javascript any better than I do (and that's gonna be a problem soon!)

Any PHPBuilder types here also? And <stares around timidly> I got a welcome email from JPNyc? I thought he was off to new digs
