    Blur page content

Does anyone know of a way to blur the entire contents of a page so that i can popup a message window?

I know that jquery has a blur function, which i may be able to use.

pop up visible but "behind it" is shaded, or blurred out?

Popup will be clear and everything behind will be blurred.

So basically i'd like to lay a blur filter over the content of the page. Not sure if that is possible, or if there are some clever work-arounds to achieve this.

you'll be able to change the background via the code. to darker but its really an image i think so in photoshop you have a blank png image with a white at like 30% opa.

thanks for all the responses, but i am hoping to blur the contents, rather than decrease the opacity.

I have tried css tricks like this:

    <span style="filter: blur(add=false, direction=135, strength=6); font-size:20pt;width:200px;">Blur Filter</span>

But they just don't seem to work.
