    Question Member Management Utility?

    Hi folks,

I'm currently in the process of building a new website. I would like to add functionality for members to sign up to the site. Basically, to show a mini profile like you would see on a social networking website (so they can add a profile pic, message other members etc.)

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    All the best,
    Cal

Requires a server-side language and dbase, here's one in php:http://www.evolt.org/PHP-Login-Syste...Admin-Features

    Question

    Hi Fang,

I'm not well qualified in PHP, so would that pose a problem?

I see the detailed explanation of all the scripts, but would I be able to have a workable login system by simply uploading the files in the zip pack?

    All the best,
    Cal

It will require some knowledge of php and dbase. If the login system meets your requirements, then ask in the php forum if someone will walk you through the installation.

    Hi again Fang!

Before I look any further into this venture, would this structure allow members to have their own avatars, general profile info and be able to message other members?

Probably not. You need a full CMS:

Find one that suits your needs, and future expansion.

    WOW!!!

So much to chose from, I don't know where to start. I warm towards your open source link, as I would like to have something which isn't hosted with ads on it. If there is a nice little utility in this list someplace, where I can easily install on our hosting package, then set up a profile structure for members (with avatars, profile details & the ability to message each other) ... then I'll be a seriously happy camper.
