Run MySQL as another user
I am having some proplems with my mysql server on Ubuntu 10.
For some reason, the people behind the server can't get their conf files to work. There is a smart setting in the my.conf file where you can set the user to use when running the server, but changing this user from mysql to another, only does so that the server can't start.
In Ubuntu 9.10 I could fix this problem by also changing the username in the init.d script. But in Ubuntu 10.04 this script has changed, and the user is no longer defined anywhere in there, and just changing the user in the my.conf still does not work.
How do you change this?
And why make the my.conf file if it can't be altered anyway?
