    PHP5 upgrade: backslashes (escape) showing

    I have just upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 (Godaddy is the host).

    Since doing this, backslashes used to escape quotes in my PHP scripts have appeared breaking a number of scripts!

    You can see them now on my Metatag Generator page.

    Look at the Favicon links... BLEH... backslashes are showing now...

    I've been playing with my php.ini file and so far no magic... I've heard that Godaddy resets things such as this at the top of the hour... but thought that only pertained to .htaccess...

    here is my php.ini file:
    PHP Code:
    register_globals off
    allow_url_fopen
    on
    short_open_tag
    On

    expose_php
    Off
    max_input_time
    60
    variables_order
    "EGPCS"
    extension_dir = ./
    upload_tmp_dir = /tmp
    precision
    12
    SMTP
    relay-hosting.secureserver.net
    url_rewriter
    .tags "a=href,area=href,frame=src,input=src,form=,fieldset="

    [Zend]
    zend_extension=/usr/local/zo/ZendExtensionManager.so
    zend_extension
    =/usr/local/zo/4_3/ZendOptimizer.so
    magic_quotes_gpc
    Off

    [resolved]

    Fixed it myself... thought I would post the solution as it was making me nervous...

    I copied my php.ini file and named it
    php5.ini and ALSO uploaded it into the same directory.

    Now it works.

    BTW - I was searching Google after posting this and noticed that my thread (this one!) already appeared in Google after less than 2 minutes! Unreal!

    PS - This did not need to reset at the top of the hour, nor did it require restarting Apache as other forums claimed. The php5.ini file must be in your ROOT directory on your deluxe hosting account (Godaddy).
    Hope this helps someone somewhere someday... :P
