Cross Browser Compatability

Hi, new to the forum so thanks for having me!

I recently followed two tutorials from nettuts.com. One was for making css buttons and the other was making headers wrap around a box.

I tested them both here, while making a few minor changes.

My problem is that it displays exactly how I would expect using google chrome, however in IE 8 it looks dog.

Can anyone suggest why?

You'll all be happy to know I fixed this myself by running the page through the w3 validator. I had opened a span tag instead of closing it.

FireFox has an awesome XHTML validator plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/249 use it, love it.
