Use PHP to extract RSS data

I'm hoping someone could help me with this...

Goal - use RSS feed from sharepoint to be displayed on scrolling ticker

I've tried to use the above link to create, and it recommends using php to covert the rss feed to a single line for display.

The xml rss feed source from sharepoint has the 3 latest feeds in the format

The only things I want to extract and display are the Title and the pubDATE and have them both as a hyperlink to the link tag.

Worst case no ticker, and just a simple box with the last 3 rss posts with just the title and date...

Not really sure how to go about doing this, hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

You could use a 3rd party RSS reader script, such as Magpie. (I'm not claiming it's the best, just a name I remember hearing other people refer to.) If you want to do it yourself, you probably want to look at the SimpleXML extension.
