Having $_GET troubles

Hello! I have been playing with a script, but ran into an issue.

the code produces a url like http://www.mysite.com/thepage.php?av...body%5D=sample

How would I go about getting the avatar%5Bbody%5D value, as it seems that $_GET doesn't like the special characters.
