    x.reasons.value.length an space

    I have some value from textarea
    id the use is not direct type in the textarea , but copy their type from some where them the format get change , a lot of empty space is create , the the pop up message become confuse , How can I deal the situation like this
    <textarea name="reasons" rows="6" cols="100" ></textarea>

    if (x.reasons.value.length >=1000){
    error+= "you have reached your maximum limit of characters allowed.\n"
    }

    I don't get it. You want to trim the "long spaces"? Or what. can you detail your aim, please?

    I want to trim the "long spaces" and only check the characters of the reason
