Container div/table background color not appearing

I'm working on customizing a Wordpress theme, and for some reason it is appearing like this:
    http://www.tuftsfreeformradio.org/

The container div background color isn't showing up to unite the other divs (I think you have to look at it to understand what I mean). I've tried using both a div and a table for the container and it hasn't worked. I got it to work with the table a little while ago, then someone else accidentally removed the code and I haven't been able to figure it out since. It needs to be fixed by tonight. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

In your css remove float: left from #header, #blurb and #footer.

    For #footer added clear:both
