Is HTML Sitemap necessary for a Website?

XML Sitemap of a website will be created and submitted to webmaster's console in order to ping the search engines crawler to index the inner-pages of the website.

But, apart from XML Sitemap; HTML Sitemap will be integrated into a website by default.

So, what is the benefit of a HTML Sitemap? Is it necessary to integrate a HTML Sitemap into the website? If yes, what are its uses?

Myself, I like to provide the XML sitemap with an XSLT stylesheet killing both birds with the same stone.

Site maps are very useful for a website. there are 2 types of websites search engine site map and User site map.An HTML site map is a page within your site that links to all the other important pages on your site.
HTML site map is important, two main reasons i am telling you why?
it helps search engines crawl and understand your site, and it helps human visitors browse your site more efficiently

Not necessary, but as fellow member said, It helps human users to find pages.. and if we have sitemap.. there is no harm in that..

HTML site map is used to guide the visitor about whole structure of the website navigation.

It's not necessary. But it is good for bots visit your website . If possible,make one. And it's very easy to make a sitemap.

Then you have to maintain two of them. If you already have an XML sitemap then you pretty much already have an HTML one. Just write a simple XSLT stylesheet for the thing.

HTML sitemap is not necessary to create for a website. This is mainly done for the visitors. When you have a large website with number of pages, then you need a sitemap to let your users know about the new pages of website.

It is not really needed, but might be useful for users as well as search engines. In our experience Google will find many also more or less hidden pages and recently seems to deal with parameters very well. We also use the canonical and that also seems to work very well. Sitemaps may help Google index your site faster though.
