Binary Numbers

Hello all,

I have made a random number adder using binary, my question is how do i work out how many possible numbers there are in a something bit number, i know there's 16 in a 4 bit binary number. The code I'm using is java script.

2 to the power of the number of bits, because for each bit there is two possibilities, and by the Fundamental Principle of Counting, you multiply all the possibilities by each other.
