Image in Text Alignment

I'm having some trouble getting images to align in my text.

I'm simply trying to display a small icon (smiley) in-line with my text, but it always displays either too high or too low.

This is a <img src="./images/msn_turtle.gif" alt="Smiley" align=middle /> turtle

If I use middle, the picture looks too low. When I don't use alignment, the picture is too high. I'm frustrated! lol

Any help is appreciated.
