XML inside HTML

I have been teaching myself XML, and I can see how to use a style sheet to display XML. But what I can't work out is whether it's possible to do this INSIDE an existing web page. For example, can I make a nice web page with images and other content etc...and then just put one section into the page which is read from an XML file - maybe a news section or something. If so, how do I tell HTML to read from the XML file at that point?

Can anyone give me a sample of the code for this? Thanks
