Is it possible to get a screenshot of a website client-side?
I need to get a screenshot of an entire website and be able to save it on the server. Ideally I need a client side solution to this but I'm not sure if it's possible...
If a client-side solution isn't possible, do you know of a simple server side way of doing this?
Finally, if all the above fails, is there any website which provides this screenshot service for free (the image would have to be full size though)?
Thanks for any advice,
You don't mention if this is for a website feature or something you need a particular person to do, so depending on which it is screengrab may do the trick:
Though you said "entire website", so i am not sure if that means the entire page or the entire "website", there is big difference. If screengrab doesn't do the trick then you'll need to be more specific.

Quite a complex question, sorry I don't know
This may not be possible. Due to security issues. If you are allowed to get access to the users local machine my best guess would be to use a remote desktop/access software or a connection such as a vpn.
My best guess
Not exactly what I was after but thanks for the help.

Not what I was after really but it does the job for now anyway.
Thanks again everyone.
Have thought about converting the entire website files to PDF? There are many converter packages available. Several free online file converters. Screen captures of some pages require scrolling so if that's what may be useful to you, I would get something like:
FastStone Capture 5.3 (1.2 MB) - http://www.oldapps.com/fast_stone_capture.php
Allows you to select the area for a screen capture and/or whether you need to auto-scroll for a capture of a window that is too long. Jing does ok for Video captures and is free for limited file size. Might help:
Free online file converter: http://www.cometdocs.com/
40 Options for Converting PSD to HTML: http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/desig...html-services/
I'm pretty sure it's possible -- http://vyew.com allows browser-based desktop sharing using java/flash. If you get in touch with them, as long as there is no conflict of interests, they might be willing to point you in the right direction.
Let us know what they tell you!
Something like this?
Type in your url and watch it scan the site and grab the screenshot
