Communication via UDP with Javascript

Is there any possibility to communicate with udp protocol in javascript.

I did some googling. doesnt appear to be possible with javascript, most articles I saw referenced people to using flash instead, which can do this from what they say.

I have never heard of anyone using udp for general web coding. perhaps if you explain your intent and problem someone with more experience than me can help out.

javascript's IO is ajax, which uses HTTP, which in turn uses TCP.
even the newer websockets protocol is based on TCP.
