Definition lists again

Okay I tried to ask about this the other day, but I think my question was too complicated. I created a new page and greatly simplified the code (got rid of sibling selectors, etc.). Here it is:

Is there any way to get the company name and the year to be on the same line? (Display inline doesn't work.)

Looks difficult to solve. Negative margins don't seem to work. Inline does not either.

May I ask, why aren't you just using tables?
