    Multiple servers for one website

    Hello,

I like to know more about how to spread one website over multiple servers. For example, how to spread one database over multiple servers ... I don't quite understand that ...?

Also is there a hosting service where you can upload your website, install your (mysql) database and you don't have to care about how big your website becomes? And is there a hosting service, which has datacenters all over the world, and automatically redirects your user to the nearest datacenter? It would be a dream if there is

Does anybody knows a good company and/or book about this matter?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/

    Thx!

    Christophe

    Hi m$IE hater,

Does rackspace provide all I mentioned above (scaling, nearest datactr to user, ...)?

Can you tell me a little more with your experience with rackspace?

    I'll check it out!

I just had a chat with one of the sales men. Thanks for the tip!

Anyway, does anybody has experiences with Rackspace?

The slightly-larger-than-small company I work for uses Rackspace to manage all of it's client sites using CloudSites - their interface is fairly polished and the connection quite fast.

Admittedly, we haven't built any massive sites (with more than 100,000 page views a day or anything), but for the times we have had sites under light-moderate traffic (20,000 page views a day) there have been absolutely no issues.

Tomorrow a salesman of RackSpace will call to explain everything, but thanks for your feedback!
