client previewing site while editing

I wanted to ask what other designers are doing with their clients sites while in the working and editing stages. What I have done for a few years now is create a sub directory on my own webspace and upload the entire site to that for them to view but I don't like to keep it there for too too long in case the pages get indexed by the search engines. Sometimes the client is so slow getting his part done that the site can be online like that for months.

I do the same, but if you include a robot.txt file in your directory, it will stop robots crawling your page ... Just type in robot.txt in to google for instructions on how to stop certain directories being indexed ....
