Our company is looking for smart, creative problem solvers with 3-5 years of formal software QA experience, to assure the quality of our expanding social networking software. At Online Buddies, you're not just acting on a test plan. QA Engineers work with software developers, release management, product management, support staff, and customers in the service of quality and performance of our Web-based products. Quality Assurance is vital to the success of our company.

The role of QA Engineer is to support our Agile based product development process to provide system level, functional and performance testing and verification support for all of Online Buddies, Inc. product through the full product lifecycle.

The product focus will be on both our Java based DList social networking application, both web version and mobile product as well as our main web property as well (web and mobile).

The role will work under general guidance of the QA team lead and QA Automation expert on a day-to-day basis. The person in this role will also attend our daily product development scrum meetings and work directly with engineers on verifying new product features as well as clarifying and support debug/fix processes.

  • Work under general direction from QA team lead and product development engineers to refine and execute test plans that will cover both functional and non-functional (performance, usability) testing.

  • Assist in developing and documenting functional test plans. Collaborate with other QA, Engineering and Product Manager employees to define and document this test plan.
  • Continually maintain and update this test plan.

  • Work in a continual test mode in our Agile based development process.
  • Have very strong attention to detail when it comes to product testing looking for bugs as noted in test plan, but also be able to discover new issues that are not necessarily documented as part of scripted test plan.

  • Run both manual and automated test plans to find bugs, defects and regressions in product functionality. Work closely with Engineering team to verify bug fixes.

  • Record and document the details of bug in our bug tracking system (Jira).
  • Follow up on all assigned tickets via this system.

  • Recognize bug severity and be able to escalate and prioritize accordingly based on the severity and impact of any product bugs detected.

  • Work independently with engineers on following up on any blocking issues associated with fixing or validating fixed bugs.

  • Work with automated testing tools and continually automated test cases using these test tools.

BS or BA degree required

  1. Solid understanding and practical experience of software development life cycles, with particular emphasis on detailed functional use, analysis and/or testing of web based or mobile based applications.

  1. 3+ years of experience with daily use of web based applications. This would include both general use experience, as well as work related use in either software product testing, training or customer support roles.

  1. 3-5 years of formal software QA experience in web based or enterprise software product company. Familiarity with QA tools and techniques, bug tracking systems, test design and execution.

  1. Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills

  1. Very strong attention to detail for both functional points, but also user interface design and layout points for web based and mobile phone based applications.

  1. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  1. Ability to be flexible and adapt to any given situation

  1. Must have proven experience in using and learning new software tools or applications in performing past work responsibilities.

  1. Basic understanding of the principles and best practices of software development process. Prefer to have some experience with Agile based development.

  1. Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations with a calm demeanor

  1. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of deployments

  1. Desired experience working in an eCommerce and/or social networking web sites.

Experience with using ticket tracking software (e.g. Bugzilla, Jira)
Strong knowledge in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word or common Wiki products (e.g. Confluence) for documenting test plans.
Preferred experience with automated software testing tools for browser and server side testing (e.g. QTP, and Selenium).
Extensive experience and knowledge in using social networking and e-commerce sites.
Nice to have skills include experience with java specific tools such as ant and junit, SQL query, and scripting language knowledge.
