    Building a website

    Hello,
I am building a website, and I am looking for a web developer (please note that this is not a job posting).
I have an issue, I do not know how to find the right candidate who has "the right set of skills" to work on the conception of my project.

    Why ?
I don't know what programming language is required to build that website - I found that asp .net / php might be the solution in building that website.

The website will offer a wide range of services to our clients, for instance:

    1. provides information (including a blog; for SEO strategy)
    2. allow customers to review / order our products
    3. track their orders / transaction history
    4. Calculate the shipping cost using variables such as the weight, country of destination for instance

Web development is not my area of expertise and I am looking for solutions /advices in building this website. The website needs to be built in such a way, that we’ll be able to modify the price, the status (out of stock) or insert new products without making any change in the structure of any web page.

I want something creative and innovative.

Basic fundamental rule for your site is to keep it simple, avoid flash because it is not something native to the browser unlike javascript.

As for people you are seeking, you will need them to be a cohesive team that can remain focused. If you think that web design is as simple as employing one person, you really need to think about the various parts of the design team from the person who manages the team to those working the departments of server side and implementation of your strategies and the person who works the CSS magic and who designs the HTML framework, etc.

One person building a site from scratch would take a couple of months, using a ready built CMS system could see a site developed from scratch in as little as 72 hours from install to delivery.

Ask yourself what you want, a team to design and build from the ground up or a team to rely on existing frameworks and that team essentially is a more "Creative" team rather than "Development" team because the developing side is out of your hands.

    Plenty to think about...
