Query on galleries

Hi all, first time here, I've been searching for a solution to my problem to no avail and hence I've found myself here where hopefully someone can help

So I'm looking for a good pop-up gallery script however the way I want to implement it is to provide a text link on my page, and when clicked the image gallery pops up and allows the user to go through the images. I do not want the base page to have any thumbnails, just text links which will bring up the various galleries. This seems like it should be a simple enough task however everything I've come across so far entails having a page full of thumbnails. Can someone please provide some guidance on this?

In theory, what you describe is actually easier than a gallery that uses thumbnails. On the other hand, if you can't find anything close as a download, then it would be a lot of work, even for a competent JavaScript programmer...
