Should XHTML be used?

Reading About.com's http://webdesign.about.com/od/mobile...the-iphone.htm and SitePoint's "Designing for the Mobile Web Article" at http://www.sitepoint.com/designing-for-mobile-web-3/ -- it seems XHTML should be markup language used for MOBILE DEVICES (instead of HTML 5?).

SitePoint listed validators: http://validator.w3.org/mobile/ and http://ready.mobi/launch.jsp?locale=en_EN (with link to http://mobiforge.com/)

I don't think either article intended to give you that impression. Actually mobile devices are where HTML5 and CSS3 are thriving the most, since there's no IE to hold things back.

On the other hand HTML5 allows XHTML style of coding, if you were used with. So that, yes, we may say that XHTML project is dead.
