    Google Maps Integration

How would one go about setting up something like this:

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/local/sea...I%20Ever%20Ate

I would like to link our blog posts and web pages to areas on a map that they focus on just how food network has done. I'd like to add mini-images etc just the same.

Is this custom programmed just for them or is it a web app of some sort?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the link!

It's helpful but appears that I need to find a Google map developer or something to do something with the API for us to match our needs (since I have no idea what to do with an API...LOL). I keep hunting around on Googles site for developers but their links that are supposed to link to them doesn't work anymore.

Anybody have google map developer suggestions or anything? (we would pay the developer of course)

We don't need anything extreme. Just pretty basic like Food Networks...

Will you could go the more complex route and use an API, but you certainly don't need to.
First, you'll need a Google account so you can log in and start creating your map.
Then open up "My Places", then "Create Map".
The "none API" tutorials and instruction will mean a lot more to you once you get your account set up and have tried to make your first map.
When you run into a specific problem.. Google that specific thing. It's much easier to find a specific answer to a specific question than get a general answer to a rather vague question.
And before you start creating your map, gather all the content you need for two or three sample markers..so you'll need:
    1. an icon to mark the spot
    2. an image to display when the marker opens up
    3. text to display in the marker (and any hyperlinks you plan to use)
Then log in and give it a go... it doesn't have to be as complex as you might think.
Here is a simple Google Map of the Olympic Peninsula embedded into one of our Web sites:
