I'd like some recommendations for tools people use when developing
Specifically I'd like to know what browser add ons to use - but if there's anything else that is amazingly useful as a tool, I'd like to know!
I've used Chromes developer tools - awesome!
Chris Pederick's web developer plugin for Firefox - awesome!
Firebug?? I've seen this mentioned in loads of places. How is it different to Web Developer? Is it better or does different things?
Vim personally, I have an Apache server locally, and set up a virtual host for each project and that's about it. Git to keep track of revision, and I'll try out Continuous Integration from Eriwen in a few weeks when I get a chance.
Great wit and madness are near allied, and fine a line their bounds divide.
Netbeans for coding because of:
- The best IntelliSense for PHP and good one for css, html too.
- Good debugger (I'm talking about PHP xdebug)
- If you use some version control system, it has plugins for all popular ones.
For browser plugins - Firebug for Firefox. All the other popular browsers has good enugh built in dev tools.
We use Ebase Xi, an integrated development platform for browser-based UI apps, workflow and integration. Very cool. First rate RAD platfotm - kind of a best kept secret I think. They have a free Community Edition plus paid/supported versions.
