How to launch MySQL server from command-line

Hi All,
I've only recently started using the command-line tool to work with my MySQL database (prev using PHP MyAdmin). i'm doing good with it except I haven't found where I can actually start it up. Can someone tell me how this can be done?

Hi!

using the command prompt, you might access it using something like the following

C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysql -u username -h hostname -p

at this point hit return, and you will be prompted for your password. Enter it and hit return and there you go, you're in!

the above assumes you are using Windows and running XAMPP (C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysql)
