database transfer

I am doing a website for a candy store, they are selling over 1000 products. I am transferring the old website built in html/css/javascript/php with a mysql database. To Joomla! with a mysql database. I am not very experienced with databases. Is there an easy way to transfer the product information from one to the other? Thanks!

Joomla have it own structure so there is no really easy way to do that.
