Directories, social bookmarks, forum, and blog links are all quick free ways to get links but I suggest you make the content on your site "linkable". With Google latest algorithm update and the strong social networking push, creating high quality content that will get linked to naturally is the best way to get inbound links that will hold up through the next algorithm updates.

In my opinion Backlinks are the incoming links coming from other sites to your site. Backlinks are used to improve the site rank and also for traffic. Quality of backlinks are more important.

A back link is an inward link to your site that may or may not be reciprocated with an outward link back. If page A links to page B then a back link would be a link which goes from page B back to page A. The idea behind including backlinks as part of the page rank algorithm is that if a page is good, people will start linking to it. And the more backlinks a page has, the better.

As we know that backlinks are the most important aspect of SEO. It is basically a link from another site pointing back to yours. When engaging in link building it is important to consider the types of links. You want to have a lot of high quality relevant links pointing to your site with keyword rich anchor text.Natural backlinks are more valuable to search engines than reciprocal links.

For example letís consider you find an interesting article on web and you require the article to be displayed on your website hence you link the article to your website. Now your website acts as a back link to that article or to the URL where the article is originally located.

Backlink is one of the tools used in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The number of backlinks indicate your siteís importance or popularity. Quality backlink to a website may be taken into consideration by search engine to determine the siteís relevance to a particular keyword.

Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today their significance lies in SEO

What are "backlinks"? Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL's). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.
