    .htaccess not always working

    My site's index.php file is in a /site/ subdirectory so my .htaccess file instructs requests to redirect to pages in that directory. All seems fine from my PC and others but I have also tested it on other computers (on different networks) and the redirect doesn't happen, instead users get a file list including the /site/ subdirectory.

    .htaccess file below...

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /site/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /site/index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

    Why is this happening? Is there a workaround so it doesn't happen i.e. can I put an index.php file in the root folder that redirects to /site/index.php?

    Thanks in advance

    Not sure about all of your directives in .htaccess.

    But you might add:

    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
