Loading text from MS-Word

I am using xml files to load pieces of text to a html page.

but for long text pieces, writing them in a xml field is far from ideal.

Is there any way to have texts stored in Word, or any other format, and load it to html, using js or jquery?

not really with word, but you could using text or even RTF files and ajax.
you could use still xml for all the meta, and store a filename in the xml of a text file that contained the actual large pieces of content.
