CAN anyone please tell me how to fix this:

It's impossible to be specific without seeing your code. This message simply means that there is a syntax error in the SQL query string. I usually find it's easiest to add some temporary code to print out the query string so I can see exactly what's being sent to the MySQL server. From there, it's usually pretty easy to spot where the problem lies.
