I need help writing a simple MLM genealogy script

Hello Everyone,
I need help writing a simple MLM genealogy script, I just can't get the algorithm or the data structure right.. and I can't find any MLM scripts anywhere..

What I want is a simple MLM tree, someone registers just below someone let's name him "X" and the new user "Y" and chooses to be on either his left or his right.. meanwhile he is also added to the count of the user "on top" of mr. "X".. and so on..

I would just like to be able to query all the user ID's on the left or on the right of someone..

I can do the rest (registeration system, commissions and so on), I just need a base to work on.. so any help?

We have an online program called ELMTree (first E is an M on it's side) that creates a simple 2x2 tree structure. It also has some cool admin features. It's $197 for the basic version, or $297 for the version with a separate function for enrollment of those in the tree into an actual MLM downline.

We have a solution for you, but it's too involved to provide here and its against the forum rules to provide you my contact information or even my real name. How do registered users directly contact each other? I don't even see a contact option in our profiles.
