    IE10 Desktop/Metro Gray link highlight box

    IE10 seems to draw a semi-transparent gray box behind active links. This is really annoying and it happens in the desktop, as well as the "Metro" version.

    My current workaround is to use:

    I also tried "background-color: transparent", but this solved the problem only for the desktop version of IE10.

    Both approaches are somewhat jacky and I can't imagine, that there is no better way to disable this "feature". For iOS there is a "tap-hightlight-color", but I have found nothing similar for IE10.

    If you wand to see it yourself, just create an html file with "<a href="#">Link Text</a>" in the body, open it in IE10 and click (+hold) the link.

    Does anyone know more about this issue? I googled and searched msdn but could not find anything on this matter.

    Thank you in advance!

    There is a meta element, but it looks like it only works on Windows P

    <meta name="msapplication-tap-highlight" content="no" />
