Problem with text size and positioning footer menu

I am trying to create a website with html and css and the 960 grid system.

I have a problem with the footer menu. It is near the top of the division (just below the menu) and partly behind the text box. How can I place the partly hidden menu in the page footer?

Also the text size seems to have shrunk in the text box. I originally used 1.15em and increased it to 1.50em because the text was small. The change in size didn't work. How can i change the font size?

Also for some reason the page has aligned to the left of the screen. How can I get it back to the centre? I have tried align:center

If you want to change the standard text size, use:

html, body
{
    font-size: 1.5em;
}

To get your text to align to the centre of the body, you can use the text-align property of CSS like so:

#your_div
{
    text-align: center;
}

I'm a little confused about your problem regarding the footer. Can you rephrase the question? I can't figure out what you're asking.

The text for the footer menu was appearing half way down a page and was half hidden by an element (text box) that I inserted.

I have resolved that issue and will give your suggestion a bash (try) so that I get the footer menu in the centre of the page.
